Activities to do with your 8 month old
Here are some ideas for encouraging your 8 month old baby's development.
Your baby is learning to fit toys into one another, so its a good time to offer toys such as shape sorters and stacking cups.

- Provide plenty of toys that your baby can bang with. Eight month old babies LOVE to do this.
- Play music so your baby can enjoy moving her body to the different rhythms.
- Play games such as peek-a-boo. They can help with separation anxiety. They teach your baby that when you go - you always come back!
- If you notice that your baby has started pointing with her index finger this is quite important as it's a big step towards developing the pincer grip. Encourage this development by frequently pointing out interesting objects in her environment.
- Your baby will have a strong desire to explore objects that have moving parts. Your baby will enjoy an activity board which has pieces that spin and whirl and knobs that squeak when pushed. You'll need to show her how it works at first.
- By hearing a variety of sounds your baby will be able to develop his listening skills. Introduce musical instruments such as a xylophone so he can explore making different sounds.
